Ireland - Home of the Guinness, Gaelic and Giants Causeway

Ireland was one of the most anticipated trips I had planned this year, and it didn´t disappoint. I got a chance to spend time with my best friend Jen, her fiance Joel and my Scottish friends. It was a jam packed trip with barely a moment of rest, but so worth it! We started the festivities in Dublin for St. Patricks Day, then headed west to the Cliffs of Moher and Galway then ended the trip in Northern Ireland, Belfast and Giants Causeway. I wish I could do it all over again!

DUBLIN

After a full day of traveling last Wednesday, March 16th, I got up bright and early St Patricks day morn to walk around town a bit and to see a rowing crew start a race. Below are a couple photos of the River Liffey in Dublin.

View of O´Connell Street from our Lynam´s Hotel doorway

We all gathered up in our St. Patty´s day finest to watch the parade along O´Connell Street. The guy in the back was a friend we made from Upland, California. What a small world!

Jen and Joel pimped out in their St. Patty´s gear. Joel managed to find a green blazer, hahaha...

My perpetual traveling buddies Jessica and Callie

And the parade begins...

There were 650,000 people who turned up in Dublin this day! Mayhem!

Locals and several other Irish representatives participated in the colorful parade procession

This guy was so scary! I can honestly say I saw my first goblin/leprechaun

These smart folks watched the show from a building rooftop

Some of the floats were very bizarre indeed. I think they were based on old Irish stories.

Pigs flew this day!

Jen and I in our green tu tu´s and suspenders! Success!

Jek and I posing in front of the River Liffey on our way to Trinity College. He looked so cute in his sparkly green bow tie :)

There was no shortage of Irish enthusiasts

Heyyyyyyyyyooooooo

Trinity College

Inside the campus on our way to see the ancient masterpiece, the Book of Kells

The Book of Kells is a manuscript of the four gospels and a symbol of Irish nationalism. It was produced in a monastary on the Scottish island, Iona sometime around A.D 806. The manuscript is filled with intricate calligraphy and gorgeous artwork. It was held in Kells until 1661 then later moved and entrusted into the safe keeping of Trinity College Library.

Walking around the center of Dublin

A random crowd gathered to watch a dance off...Jek was the only one tall enough to take a pic so we can see what was going on.

Random Irish shizz

Taking a break at The Brazen Head, Ireland´s oldest pub established in 1198. I had my first Guinness stew here.

After 12 hours of festivities we ended St.Patty´s day at a nightclub at the Arlington Hotel...good times were had all around :)

I got to drive on the wrong side of the road!

On our way to the Cliffs of Moher

GALWAY

It took awhile but we finally made it to Galway

Hanging out at a pub called Monroe's

My last snapshot of Galway before heading north bound

BELFAST

We stopped at Maggie May's Cafe in Belfast before going to the Giants Causeway

Best raspberry cheesecake I've had in a long time

GIANTS CAUSEWAY

One of my biggest goals while living in Europe was to see these famous hexagonal stones...my wish came true!

A bit chilly but happy!

The waves were becoming progressively larger as nighttime approached

Our second glorious sunset of the trip

Until next time Irlanda!
