Life is good. Real good.
This past weekend I was convinced to go here...
Ok...so it didn't take much convincing. Islas Cies is a gorgeous natural reserve off the coast of Vigo. During the high peak season only 2,200 people are allowed on the island at a time. This past weekend we made it. Not without a little difficulty (i.e not bringing tents, no reservations, buying 3 days worth of groceries with 10 minutes to spare before the ferry left, no sleeping bags, etc.). In the end it all worked out and the seven of us girls were ready for some much needed sun.
After 3 hours by bus and 40 minutes by ferry we arrived. However, upon reaching the camp grounds we were informed that there were no tents available until the summer season. At that moment we spiraled from "whoo hoo, we're here!" mode to dejected with a side of orphaned. Luckily, some kind soul who worked on the island felt sorry for our pathetic hides and hooked us up with a couple tents from the back shed. And vuala...SPRING BREAK!!!!!!
The view from our tents...good morning indeed!
We were surrounded by beautiful turquoise water...who knew the Atlantic Ocean harbored such a treasure!
It was windy on the first day...but after living in Galicia for 8 months we're no stranger to the element
Laura and I doing our best to suck in our empanada guts ;)
A few hours later a few buddies from Vigo came and joined us on the beach for a small game of throw and catch

After a full wind blown day at the beach we got dressed and went on a hike to the other side of the island to watch the sunset

On route to eat some food! By this point we had been munching on nuts, chorizo, cheese and bread for 2 days
Hanging out while we were waiting for the kitchen to open at 9:30 pm (and that's early for Spanish dinner). While sitting and talking we inadvertently became the audience for 2 seagulls who were inspired by the Spring season...haha
Beach, day 3. The seagull below would not leave Callie's stuff alone!
The nudist beach
Heading back to our camp site to pack up and go
On the ferry back to Vigo

This is the infamous picture that cost us to loose our group on our way to the pub :( Luckily Elyse and I were able to find our way back to our friend's apartment.
